Helicopter Spins Wildly into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Beach
A helicopter flying over a crowded southern California beach unexpectedly started spinning uncontrollably, finally descending rapidly and smashing into a line of palm fronds as spectators observed.
Recordings uploaded online depict the chopper starting to spin near Huntington Beach then plunging near the edge of the shore, where it becomes wedged among palm trees and a steps close to the coastal road.
Rescue Operation Update
Emergency responders said five persons were rushed to the hospital comprising a pair who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” subsequent to the incident on the weekend.
Three persons on the pavement were hurt. Specifics on their wounds were still under review.
What led to the incident was not yet disclosed.

Authorities indicated the chopper was connected to an yearly “Cars with Copters” charity gathering set for the next day.
